November 1, 2009 - Mara Mountain Hike

With a 700 m elevation gain we hiked up Mara Mountain. We used the gravel road going up to the top to see if it was bikeable. But no, too steep in places and very muddy at the top. It was a lovely hike though, very quiet and peaceful.



Sagebrush takes all forms. This one has quite the trunk.

Lots of rock in this particular area.

Once and awhile you do get some green.

Oh yes, cows. This is cowboy country, after all.

A perfect sunny day as we climbed higher and higher.

The well-travelled road.

You get a real sense of freedom out here. civilization seems light years away.

Eventually we came upon a forested area near the top.


This guy is not going anywhere.
